Remember the days when everyone would tackle their postman to get there hand on their monthly Glossy Box? I miss that excited feeling i got every month wondering what my next box would include. I love receiving post (when its not bills) and that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you see the postman walking to your door with a parcel in hand, even when you know exactly whats in the parcel as you ordered it 3-5 days previously. But imagine the excitement when you see the parcel and have no idea whats in the box?! The element of surprise make's it feel like its your birthday every month!
Having decided i missed the monthly box subscriptions so much, i decided i wanted to venture out and find a new box that i would love just as much as i did the Glossy Box. I wanted to try something a little bit different that wasn't solely evolved around beauty. So when my friend Michelle told me she found the perfect box for me, i couldn't wait to subscribe (thank you for knowing me so well). That's when i discovered 'My Little Box'.
The concept is the same as most monthly subscription boxes but better! Originally a French box which is delivered from Paris each month (that in itself makes it better!), My Little Box isn't merely a beauty sampling service, it's a little bit different with proper gifts being sent to you.
The box includes not only beauty items but some lifestyle items and even fashion pieces too. In previous boxes they have had little wonders like microwavable cosies in the November box and a gym bag in the January box. Each box has a theme perfect for the month they are released in. For example the January box was conveniently
"The Little Energy Box' perfect for every girl out there trying to budge those few extra pounds we all gained over christmas!
As you can imagine, i was absolutely delighted when i received my first box. The February addition was called 'My Little Frenchie Box'.
The box was full of goodies! Inside was these two beautiful eye products. We all know eyebrows are still a big thing at the moment. I personally always use a powder to fill in my brows rather than a pencil, as i prefer a more natural blend. Being a blondie i find that pencils can sometimes been too sharp and harsh and i have never found the right shade for me. Unfortunately thats exactly what i found with the L'oreal Brow Artist product. The shade was far too dark to be used on my brows, but on the plus side it like to wear brown eyeliner when i wear a natural daytime smokey eye. So i'm going to try it use it for that, and if all fails, i have a sister who i know would happily take this product off my hands!
Although that product wasn't the best for me, i absolutely fell in love with the By Terry - Terrybly Khôl Pencil! (i like what you done with the name here) Worth an a whopping £23. Firstly its waterproof! All you english folk will know just how much rain we get here so that's always a plus side in any eye product. But secondly the colour is incredible. It's a shimmery deep olive green and has a soft creamy consistency so is easily blended therefore works perfectly smudged across the lash line.
Hallelujah for these DHC oil blotting papers! I suffer from very oily skin. Apparently it's a god sent because i will age slower and get less wrinkles. But as far as i'm aware i'm just a complete grease monkey, that is prone to spots and has the job of having to re apply my make up during the day, as it seems to slide of my face almost instantly after applying! So as you can gather i'm already a big fan of blotting papers but the cute packaging and easy pull out design of the box made me love these even more.
The my little beauty product that came this month was their Complexion Enhancer - Glowing skin. I have never purchased a skin enhancer before, just because i feel my skin glow's a little too much already with all the extra oils i produce. So i was sceptical about using this product. To my surprise i really enjoyed it! I used it on a day where i didn't wear any make up so i could see if the product made any real difference. My skin appeared as thou it had more colour. I suffer from very dull skin and when wearing no make up i have an almost grey tone to my skin (all down to my health). So i was amazed at the fact i seem to look more healthier! I had more colour in my cheeks and my skin tone was evened out and looked clearer and brighter. This one was defiantly a winner for me!
Lastly the two lifestyle item in the box were a smartphone case and a beautifully presented pot of messages! The smartphone case is great for me as i'm always rummaging for things in a very unorganised handbag. So this case is perfect as its small enough to fit in my bag but big enough to easily find so i no longer have to empty out my whole bag until i find my phone hidden at the bottom.
The pot of messages was my absolute favourite item in this box! Not only because i love the design but the idea itself is soo cute! The description they give you is 'Hidden in this little pot, are special surprises just for you - 28 messages that will brighten up your day. What could be better?' Nothing, nothing could be better! I absolutely love it!
For just £11 a month plus postage, i think its a bargain for what you get inside. Not only do you get a variety of products and lifestyle items. But every box comes with write up's about each item, an illustrated postcard, a magazine which is exclusive to the box and a beauty product from the company's own beauty brand My Little Beauty.
I can't wait for my next box to arrive!
Sophie.
